Volunteer India, Goa for Children's charity Volunteering In India
As we are only a small charity, volunteers are a vital part of everything we do. Volunteers are required all year round; some of the jobs include helping run 'The Mango House', our day care center for children. You might also like to help sort clothes, provide local slums with fruit, teach or create activities and events for the children. Do you have what it takes to volunteer for us? It doesn't matter if you're 18 or 80; we have had a huge range of volunteers help us, the eldest being 73 so age isn't a factor. If you're fit and healthy and thnk you can work in difficult conditions for at least three months? then please get in touch. The next few pages will hopefully give you an idea of what we need and what is involved in becoming a volunteer in India for Children Walking Tall.

Volunteer Calendar This is probably the most important part. We can only offer so many volunteer places and these are done on a first come first served basis. Please look at the calendar to see if the months you want to volunteer are available. We usually get too many applicants for the months October to March and not enough for April to September, so please thnk about that when you apply.
Volunteer Application Form Please use this form to let us now that you are interested in volunteering. Once we receive a form, we will than send out a standard email giving you a little more details about what's involved. If you have any questions, please write them down in the other information field.
Volunteer CRB Check As we are a British charity, we want to uphold the safest environment for the children; therefore we request all volunteers to have a police check (CRB) carried out. If you are not British, please contact your local police station to find out how to apply for these in your country.

Volunteer Experiences, You won'e be our first volunteer, so perhaps reading what previous volunteers thought might give you an idea of what to expect. We request that all volunteers write a little bit before they leave to let new volunteers know what to expect.

Please organise the following to be sent to us as soon as possible

Your full contact details
A covering letter/email explaining what exactly you want to do and what you expect from the charity
What skills you have to offer
A passport sized photograph
Remember to organise a CRB as soon as possible!

Once we have received your information, we will read through it and reply to you as soon as possible. We may require you to attend an interview at some stage but we can arrange that at a convenient date.

Your Health

When traveling anywhere, it is vital that you consult with your local GP or nurse to find out if you require any vaccinations. This list below should be used as a guide only; contact your GP for the latest recommendations.

Below is an example of the costs once you arrive in Goa. This is to be used as a guide only.

Once the volunteers arrive we can normally suggest a few places but some of the best deals can be found by spending an afternoon scouting out the area you want to stay in. You can get cheaper than £100 if you look hard, there are still deals out there, you just need to look. Sometimes they charge for Water, Electricity and Gas separate, although these are very cheap.

These are the basics, but clothes, pots and pans, cleaning products, excursions would all be extras, it's also cheaper NOT to have friends unless you're cooking at home, lots of extra money is spent going out in the evenings with friends, try to do it once a week at most... Or bring more money! :o) - I hope this helps give you an idea of how cheap it can be to volunteer with Children Walking Tall.
