 Child Sponsorship
Many sponsors wish to sponsor children so we have introduced this child sponsorship page. Below is an explanation of how sponsorship works, the items you will receive, and what the monthly donations will be spent on. If you have any queries about this or anything else then please contact us.

How much does sponsorship cost?
Sponsorship costs a minimum of £5 a month - that less than 17p a day. Although to support a child for a month a more realistic cost would be around £15 - £20 per month. As our administration costs are so low we can assure you that at least 90% of the money donated will go directly to overseas projects where it will be used to fund centers, educational advancements, food programmes, help pay for medicines and medical treatment and other similar projects. The remaining 10% will be used towards the running and advancement of the charity.
How is the donation used?
We have learned that giving cash directly to children or their parents is not the best way to help. The donations you provide will be used to provide services, benefits and opportunities for the sponsored child and the other children in the center and areas we help. These benefits include, health care, education, clean water, good food, school supplies and clothing. For more information on what the donation helps visit the About Us page.

How long will sponsorship last?
Sometimes, sponsorship ends when we complete our work with a community. On other occasions, sponsorship comes to an end when children finish school. This means that the duration of your support can vary a great deal, although one year is usually the minimum. If a child leaves the programme, whether at the end of their schooling or earlier, we will usually let you know in time for you to write a final letter to the child, after which no more correspondence will be possible. In exceptional cases it may not be possible to tell you until after the child had left. When your sponsor child leaves the programme we would be delighted if you then felt able to help another needy child.
What happens if I cannot continue to sponsor? If your circumstances change and you can no longer sponsor a child, then please let us know. As sponsorship is not directly linked to the child we will cover any shortfall by other general donations.
Can I choose the gender or age of the child?
Unless you make a specific request, we will send you the details of the child in greatest need of your support. So if you would prefer to sponsor a child of a specific gender or age then please contact us and we'll do our best to help.
Can I send letters and gifts to the child?
You are welcome to send messages to the child you are sponsoring. But please do not send them gifts. In poor communities, it is unfair to single out a single child with a gift. If you would like to send small items to be 'held' for specific holidays like Christmas, Divali etc or as birthday presents then please give these to any staff member at our centers or post them to our Indian Address.
If you do write to a child then please keep the letters short and simple, the children enjoy knowing about where their sponsor comes from and it is an ideal way to encourage them to learn. We hope that the child will be able to reply, although at present most of the children who visit our centers only have very basic English skills. A volunteer or staff member may help with these on behalf of the child or when this it's not possible we will ask them to draw pictures.
To keep unnecessary costs to a minimum so we can spend more money on the children and associated projects we would prefer any letters sent on behalf of the children to be sent electronically via email.
What Will I receiveEach sponsor will receive once a year an updated photo, drawings and messages from the their sponsored child. This will be along with a breakdown of the charities recent activities. |
