Fundraising Steps
Step One : Decide On Your Event
Agree on what sort of fundraising event you want to run – if you are stuck for ideas choose something from our ‘A to Z of Fundraising’!
Try to choose a date that will ensure your event is well-attended. Remember to consider school holidays, major sporting events or important local events that your event could potentially clash with!
Step Three : Spread the Word
Depending on the type of event you are running, you will need to spread the word and encourage as many people as you can to take part.
You might want to create posters to advertise your event in local sports clubs, shopping centres, schools etc.
Contact local companies and see if they will sponsor your event, provide auction or raffle prizes or even match money raised on the day, pound for pound.

Step Four : Write a Press Release
Write a press release to tell everyone what you’re doing. Remember to include Who, What, Why, When and Where! Then, contact your local media – newspapers and local TV/radio - (in general, you want to target the ‘News editor’ or ‘News desk’), send them the press release and ask them to help publicise your event. Step Five : Send out a Reminder
One week before your event, send a reminder out to those people who have agreed to attend/take part with any last minute details, such as timings and dress code.
